Sequoia In-Home Care Service is looking for quality oriented individuals to provide care to our elderly and disabled Clients. We are a small, high quality company providing service in North Seattle. Our high employment standards require caring and conscientious people to provide service, companionship and interaction for our Clients. Care Attendants may be on their feet for most of a shift. They must be able to work independently and organize their own schedules. Caregivers must have good communication skills, patience, flexibility, and be adaptive to the diverse needs and personalities of our clients.

Schedule : 15 to 40 flexible daytime & evening hours per week

Full-time benefit package includes: Vacation time, Sick leave and Medical insurance reimbursement.

Paid training is provided.

Sequoia is a non-smoking company.

All caregivers must meet these minimum requirements:

• Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
• Be able to communicate, read & write in English in order to maintain required paperwork
• Be able to lift loads normally not exceeding 50 pounds
• Possess valid WA State driver's license
• Show proof of current vehicle liability insurance, equal or greater than those mandated by WA State's responsibility requirements, and
• Possess own reliable transportation to travel to several service calls in North Seattle daily.

The following pre-employment requirements must be met: *Sequoia In-Home Care Service will pay any fees associated with fulfilling the following requirements.

• Submit an employment application or resume containing equivalent information (all references will be verified)
• Obtain negative result on a tuberculosis screening
• Pass a Washington State Patrol criminal history background check (applicant must sign an acknowledgment statement that the background check will be made)
• Provide release for an abstract of your driver's record.

All new employees must become certified in the following during the first 45 days of employment: *Sequoia In-Home Care Service will reimburse employees for the cost of these classes

• Standard Adult First Aid
• Standard Adult CPR
• HIV/AIDS training (2 or more hrs.)

Prior to providing care for clients, all employees must complete a paid, in-house training program that details basic care giving principles, policy & procedures. All employees will be carefully evaluated for the first three months (appraisal period) of employment.

Job Responsibilities:

• General physical/mental health monitoring (includes monitoring vital signs, weight, & daily physical, emotional, & social observations)
• Bathing assistance
• Personal hygiene care, including diapering
• Dressing/undressing assistance
• Grooming assistance (includes nail-trimming, tooth brushing, shaving, hair-styling...)
• Monitor/assist with physical therapy or other exercise
• Transfer assistance
• Transportation assistance & errand running
• Meal preparation
• Companionship & engaging clients in activities which stimulate mental awareness (playing games, reading/listening to books, gardening, etc.)
• Medication monitoring/reminders
• Chore services such as light housekeeping and light yard work
• In-home laundering, changing of bedding and washing/folding/ironing of clothes and linens
• Pet care
• Maintain required daily paperwork
• Attendance at mandatory staffing meetings and office visits
